Samuel L. Laverack
President & Chief Executive Officer


Sam Laverack serves as MVSB’s President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), overseeing the strategy and operations for the Bank. Prior to his presidency, Sam directed MVSB’s Commercial Lending and expansion activities throughout the Lakes Region. Under his leadership, MVSB opened offices in Gilford, Plymouth, Laconia, Alton, and Wolfeboro. Sam began his career with the bank in 1976 as Manager of the Moultonborough office. Two years later, he moved to the Ashland office, which he managed for 7 years before becoming a Loan Officer in 1985. He was promoted to Vice President/Loan Officer in 1994 and Executive Vice President in 1998. In 2008, he was promoted to President and CEO. In addition to his responsibilities at MVSB, Sam has been active in the community throughout his life. He has chaired the Budget Committee for the Town of Holderness and served as Chair of the Trustee of Trust Funds, Vice-Chair of the town’s School Board, and Vice-Chair of the Board of Selectmen. He has also served on the boards for Speare Memorial Hospital, the New Hampshire Lakes Association, and the Lakes Region Charitable Association. Currently Sam is on the Boards of Directors for Charter Trust, the Belknap County Economic Development Council, the Squam Lakes Conservation Society and the White Mountain Economic Development Council. A native of Sherborn, Massachusetts, Sam attended high school at the Sterling School in Craftsbury Common, Vermont and earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from New England College in Henniker, N.H.

Richard E. Wyman
Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer


Richard Wyman serves as MVSB’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (EVP/CFO), directing the Bank’s financial and accounting activities. On his arrival in 2001 he became MVSB’s CFO and was later promoted to his current role in 2009.  He is responsible for the development of bank-wide financial policies, strategic plans, and business goals.  In addition, Rick is responsible for Risk Management, information technology, deposit operations, and the administration of the Bank’s charitable foundation, the Meredith Village Savings Bank Charitable Fund. After starting his banking career with Biddeford Savings Bank in Maine, Rick served as CFO and Operations Officer for Brunswick Federal Savings Bank and CFO for Northeast Bancorp. He has 27 years of senior bank leadership experience as a Chief Financial Officer from local community mutual banks to a publicly traded multi-bank holding company. Along with direct responsibilities of technology,   operations, risk, treasury and financial reporting, Rick’s expertise lies in mergers and acquisitions, SEC reporting and shareholder relations.  He is a member of the Board of Directors and on the finance committee of Genesis Behavioral Health Services and also serves on the CFO Advisory Committee for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston.  Rick has recently joined the Lakes Region Board of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation and will also serve on the foundation’s statewide fiscal policy committee. He is a graduate and past board member of Leadership Lakes Region, as well as a graduate of Leadership New Hampshire. In addition to having been active in the Laconia Main Street project and the United Way, Rick has also volunteered as a soccer coach at Laconia Middle School as well as volunteering with the community parks and recreation commissions during his years in Maine. He received his Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from the University of Maine and is a graduate of the banking program at Tucks School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Carol Bickford
Senior Vice President / Retail Lending Officer


Carol Bickford serves as MVSB’s Senior Vice President of Retail Loans. She directs all of MVSB's retail lending activities and is responsible for the development and implementation of new lending products, services, and programs. An integral part of MVSB's Senior Staff Team for the past 5 years, Bickford serves on the Bank's Compliance, Risk, Information Security, Total Quality Management, and Asset Liability committees and oversees loan processing, servicing and underwriting, as well as residential and consumer lending. Carol joined the lending team at MVSB in 1983 and quickly moved up through the ranks, holding positions including Mortgage Secretary, Loan Supervisor, Mortgage Loan Interviewer, Loan Officer, and Assistant Vice President/Loan Officer. She was promoted to Vice President in 1999 and Senior Vice President in 2009. An active volunteer in her community, Carol currently serves as Vice Chair of the Laconia Area Community Land Trust. Carol is currently a Board Member for the Laconia Area Community Land Trust as well as serving on both their Finance and Nominating committees. She previously served on the board of the Lakes Region United Way for more than 15 years, and she has also been closely involved with several projects for the Town of Meredith, including an update of the town’s Master Plan. Carol is a graduate of Dartmouth College’s banking program.

David Cronin
Senior Vice President / Human Resources Officer


David Cronin serves as MVSB’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources. In this capacity he is responsible for providing Human Resources support, services, and capabilities required to achieve current and long-term strategies for all functional areas of the Bank. He joined the Bank in 2008 as Vice President of Human Resources with more than 25 years of experience. He was promoted to his current position in 2009. Cronin started his career at W.B. Hunt Co. in Malden, Mass., where he rose through the ranks for 23 years before accepting a position as Vice President of Human Resources at Northway Financial in 2000. David is also a member of the Society of Human Resources Management and the Human Resources Association of Greater Concord, NH. David is a graduate of Merrimack College in Massachusetts.

Christine Harris
Senior Vice President / Retail Banking Services Officer


Christine Harris serves as MVSB’s Senior Vice President of Retail Banking. She is responsible for overseeing all of MVSB’s branch networks, investment services, business development and relationship banking departments. Christine acts as the primary developer of overall policies, programs, objectives, and goals in the Bank’s retail department. She also ensures the development and implementation of new deposit products, as well as retail services. Christine joined the Bank as the Assistant Vice President in 2005, with more than 17 years of banking experience, including several years as Branch Manager and Business Development Manager for Bank of New Hampshire’s Alton branch. She was promoted to Vice President of Retail Administration in 2006 and to her current role in 2009. She has taken on many roles in the community and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce. She is a past recipient of the Ambassador of the Year Award. Christine holds an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University.

Joanne Pearce
Senior Vice President / Risk Management Officer


Joanne Pearce serves as MVSB’s Senior Vice President of Risk. In this capacity, she ensures that sufficient management resources, software programs, and controls are in place to effectively identify, measure, and monitor risks to the Bank. She also provides ongoing development of disaster recovery, security and quality management policies and standards throughout the company and spearheads the continuing implementation of risk management policy principles. Pearce is also the chair of the Information Security, Risk, and Total Quality Management Committees. Pearce joined MVSB in May 2002 as an Information Security Specialist. Pearce was promoted to Security Manager later that year. In 2004 she was promoted to Assistant Vice President/Risk Manager. In 2006 she was promoted to Vice President/Risk Manager and in 2009, she was promoted to her current role. Prior to joining MVSB, Pearce worked in Boston and Washington D.C. in banking and software consulting. She is a member of the advisory board for The Salvation Army in Laconia and has previously worked on the organizing committee for the Lakes Region chapter of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. A graduate of Trinity College in Washington, D.C., Pearce also holds an M.B.A. in Management of Global Information Technology and International Marketing from American University’s Kogod School of Business.

Robert R. Sargeant
Senior Vice President / Commercial Lending Officer


Bob Sargeant serves as MVSB’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending, managing the Bank’s Commercial Lending team and overseeing facility planning and collections. He also serves on the Bank’s Loan Review, CRA, Risk, Information Security, Pricing, Total Quality Management, and Asset Liability committees. Bob joined MVSB in 2000 as Vice President/Commercial Lender after a 25-year career at The Pemigewasset National Bank, including 13 years as Vice President and Senior Loan Officer. He was promoted to Vice President/Senior Commercial Lender in January 2009. Later that year, he was promoted to his current role. Sargeant served the community as a Board member on the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce for more than 12 years. He also served on the Waterville Valley Region Chamber of Commerce and has been active in the business community in the Plymouth area. Shortly after coming to MVSB, Sargeant completed a commercial banking and lending program at the prestigious Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Georgetown University.

Steven Tucker
Senior Vice President / Information Technology Officer


Steve Tucker serves as MVSB’s Senior Vice President of Information Technology. He established and maintains a bank-wide technology plan as well and manages computer systems and network resources. He is also responsible for evaluating, acquiring, and implementing new software applications based on the Bank's needs and technology plan. Tucker joined MVSB in February of 1998 as the Manager of Information Services. Later that year, he was promoted to Assistant Vice President of Information Services. He was then named a Senior Officer in January of 1999. He was promoted to his current role in 2009. Prior to joining the Bank, Tucker held management positions at New Hampshire Savings Bank, Concord Savings Bank, and Exeter Hospital. Tucker graduated from the New England School of Banking at Williams College in 2005 in the top 10 percent of his class

Cynthia A. Hemeon-Plessner
Vice President / Marketing Officer


Cindy Hemeon-Plessner serves as MVSB’s Vice President of Marketing, responsible for the development and implementation of marketing and communication strategy; gathering and analyzing data to create products and services that best meet the needs of the customers and community the bank serves; serving as Trustee of the James D. Southerland Memorial Scholarship; and managing the marketing department.  Cindy joined MVSB as Electronic Marketing Coordinator in December 2006, bringing more than 12 years of sales and marketing experience. She was instrumental in the launch of the Bank’s website and was promoted to Special Projects Coordinator in January 2008. She was promoted to Marketing Officer in November 2008, Assistant Vice President in October of 2009 and Vice President in August 2010. A native of Laconia, Hemeon-Plessner serves as treasurer of the Gilford Parent-Teachers Association and co-chair for the Lakes Region United Way Day of Caring.  She is also a member of the boards for the Laconia Education Endowment Foundation (LEEF) and Lakes Region Child Care Services and is a 2009 alumni of Leadership Lakes Region. Cindy is a member of the 2010-2011 Deluxe Collaborative, which is made up of financial services executives with the vision to explore topic critical to their business.  She graduated from the George Washington University in 1990, holds a graduate degree in education from Franklin Pearce College and has completed graduate level business coursework.

Peter Brothers
Vice President of Construction Loans


Peter Brothers serves as MVSB’s Vice President of Construction Loans, ensuring that MVSB can provide unique construction loans and products that complement the needs of our community. A 33-year veteran of MVSB, Peter began his career at MVSB as Branch Manager of our Ashland office. In 1978, Brothers transferred to the Main Office as the Bank’s first Mortgage Loan Officer. In 1982, he was named Assistant Vice President. He was named Vice President in 1990. Peter has a long list of community involvement including the Inter-Lakes School Board, past President and board member of the Meredith Rotary Club, as well as serving on numerous town and NH Banker’s Association committees. He serves as chair of the Board of Selectmen for the town of Meredith and has been involved with both the Kiwanis and Rotary clubs. Peter is a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston as well as the National School of Finance & Management at Fairfield University.
