Please be aware of recent fraudulent emails claiming to contain an incoming fax. The subject of the email typically states “Incoming Fax Notification” followed by a reference number and the text within the email attempts to persuade the recipient to click on an executable (.exe) or zip (.zip) file. It is believed that the email attachment contains malicious software and clicking on or downloading the attachment may infect the recipient’s computer.
Should you receive a suspicious or unsolicited email, do not click on any images, buttons, attachments or links within the email. Doing so may result in the installation of spyware, viruses, Trojans and/or other malicious software to your computer. We recommend immediately deleting the email from both your inbox and deleted items. If the email is from a company or financial institution you normally do business with, contact them directly using the phone number listed on your most recent statement or on their website to determine if the email is legitimate.
