In celebration of Earth Day, you might notice MVSB employees dressed in earth tones, carpooling or biking to work and reducing electricity at our offices today. As a local business and community partner, we are committed doing all we can to support the communities we serve in the most efficient ways possible.
As part of our focus on environmental friendliness, we encourage our employees continually think of ways we can reduce our impact on the environment. Five years ago, MVSB created a “Green” Committee, comprised employees who volunteered to help explore greener ways of doing business at MVSB. The group has been instrumental in expanding MVSB’s recycling program, influencing the purchase of more eco-friendly supplies, and reducing the Bank’s use of energy, paper, printers and other materials and equipment.
Thanks largely to the efforts of MVSB’s Green Committee, in 2012 alone the Bank recycled over:
- 837 Glass Bottles
- 1725 Pounds of Magazines
- 5250 Pounds of Newspaper
- 5325 Pounds of Cardboard
- 6620 Aluminum Cans, and
- 18,550 Plastic Bottles!
In addition to the measures we take to protect the environment, we also offer many environmentally friendly banking products and services to our customers, including:
• Energy Solution Loans to help fund energy efficiency improvements
• eStatements to reduce the printing of traditional paper statements
• NetTeller Online Banking and Bill Pay, allowing customers to manage accounts and pay bills online
• Debit Cards, limiting the need for paper checks
