The New Hampshire (NH) Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has issued a press release warning residents of sophisticated, fraudulent websites claiming to be associated with the NH DMV. Reports from numerous residents indicate that fraudulent sites are appearing as search results when using a search engine to locate the NH DMV License Renewal website. The fraudulent sites appear to have been set up as a means of stealing confidential personal and financial information from unsuspecting consumers.
In response to this increase in fraudulent website activity, the DMV is urging residents to only access the authentic DMV website by entering the URL (www.dmv.nh.gov/) directly into the address line on their web browser. As part of the DMV’s normal license renewal procedures, New Hampshire drivers can expect to receive a letter from the NH DMV several weeks before their license expires. If the driver is eligible for online renewal the letter will contain a 10-digit Renewal Identification Number and instructions for online renewal.
