We are pleased to once again serve as a sponsor for the LNH Children’s Auction, which supports children and families in need throughout the Lakes Region. This year, the televised auction is scheduled for Tuesday, December 10 through Saturday, December 14. As in years past, our offices around the Lakes Region will serve as drop off points for donated auction items from now through Wednesday, December 11. We are thrilled to announce that Moultonborough School District is the winner of the “What’s not to ‘Like’? Facebook Technology Grant Contest.” The $3000 grant will be used by Moultonborough Academy’s Technology Education Department to purchase a 3D printer. Over the summer, we reached out to local school administrators and asked how they could benefit from an additional $3000 in technology resources.  The Bank received responses from five school districts: Gilford, Governor Wentworth Regional, Inter-Lakes, Laconia and Moultonborough.  These submissions were posted on our Facebook page for a two-month voting period.  Throughout the contest Moultonborough and Inter-Lakes competed closely for the lead […]

The  charitable fund has awarded a $2,500 grant to Moultonboro/Sandwich Senior Meals. These funds are being used by the program to send participating seniors home with a healthy, home-cooked meal for supper.   For more than seven years, the Moultonboro/Sandwich Senior Meals Program has been serving the senior community of Carroll County.  The Program’s staff and volunteers prepare, cook and serve lunch at the Moultonboro Lions Club, Monday through Thursday.  Volunteer drivers also allow the program to serve homebound seniors by providing meals delivered directly to residences.  It became clear in recent years, that some of the seniors that visit […]

The New Hampshire Department of Travel and Tourism Development (DTTD) is warning of a recent telephone scam targeting tourism-related businesses.  Area businesses have reported receiving calls from Canadian telephone numbers soliciting their ad for a NH Tourism publication.  The caller asks to confirm the business’ address to send them an invoice for $599. According to the DTTD, businesses will only be contacted by their representative at Yankee Publishing with respect to any legitimate DTTD advertising opportunities.  If your business receives a suspicious call regarding advertising, the Department recommends contacting your Yankee Publishing representative or calling the DTTD directly at 603-271-2665.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is warning of an increase in Social Security benefits being fraudulently redirected. Fraudsters are obtaining personal information about benefit recipients via phone calls, emails, and other social engineering techniques. They then use this stolen personal information to open fraudulent “My Social Security” accounts online. Through the online accounts, they are able to update addresses, access statements, and change direct deposit information. The SSA encourages benefit recipients to:Never provide personal information when receiving unsolicited calls or emails Never agree to accept pre-paid debit cards or credit cards in another person’s name Never agree to send or wire money to […]

MVSB was recently awarded the 1st Annual Worksite Health Champion Award from the Lakes Region Partnership for Public Health (LRPPH).  The award was given on September 26th at LRPPH’s Annual Meeting in recognition of the Bank’s efforts to promote employee health and wellness. A Wolfeboro teen was able to pursue his passion for boat building over the summer with a little help from a scholarship from  MVSBfor the New Hampshire Boat Museum’s Youth Boat Building School. Jacob Johnson was awarded the scholarship to attend a week-long class, during which he built a one-person plywood kayak. Students at the Youth Boat Building School are taught how to safely assemble boat-building kits using their hands, as well as a limited number of small power tools.
