Security Alert : Ransomware Infections Target Windows Operating Systems
We have received reports of ransomware infections targeting both consumers and businesses. Ransomware is a type of malicious software primarily targeting Windows operating system users. Characteristics of ransomware include: Locks targeted operating system to limit or prevent it from being used until a ransom is paid, usually in BitCoins. Encrypts files on the targeted system, only releasing the decryption key to the target after the ransom is paid. Grant Helps Bring Memories of World War II Exhibit to the Wright Museum
The Wright Museum of World War II was one of twenty-one local non-profit organizations to receive a grant from the Meredith Village Savings Bank Fund at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation this year. The $1750 grant, along with support from other local businesses, will be used to bring Memories of World War II: Photographs from the Associated Press Archives to the museum. This traveling exhibit contains 120 black and white photographs taken during the war by some of the most talented photographers of the era. SwiftKey Vulnerability Puts Samsung Galaxy and Note Users at Risk
We have been made aware of a critical vulnerability targeting SwiftKey keyboards, which are pre-installed on multiple Samsung Android devices, including the Galaxy S3, S4, S5, S6 and the Galaxy Note 3 and 4. The vulnerability allows attackers to remotely access the phone and execute code when it is connected to an unsecure WiFi network. Once they have gained access, the attacker could access the phone’s GPS coordinates, camera and microphone, install malicious apps, intercept messages, and gain access to usernames and passwords and locally-stored files, such as photos.
