Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB) will be the Platinum level ($5000) sponsor for the first annual Belknap House Masquerade Ball. The Ball will be held Friday night, October 21st at the St. Andre Bessette Parish Hall on 291 Union Avenue in Laconia.
The Masquerade Ball is a key fundraising event for Belknap House, a newly formed non-profit family homeless shelter. Belknap House’s mission is to provide families in Belknap County a safe shelter especially in cold weather months, when children are at risk during homelessness, and to empower families to become self sufficient and independent by making resources and educational opportunities available.
“Meredith Village Savings Bank is honored to sponsor the first Masquerade Ball for Belknap House,” said Rick Wyman, President of MVSB. “The region has traditionally had very few available beds for homeless families, so this new non-profit will provide a beneficial service to the children and families of our local communities.”
“Our shelter plus the education and resources we will be offering at Belknap House helps families and children get on the right path,” said Edie Gault, Masquerade Ball Committee Chair. “We’re grateful to MVSB for sponsoring the Ball at the Platinum level during this crucial time, as we simultaneously work to open the shelter and plan our first annual gala.”
Belknap House will provide families experiencing homelessness in Belknap County safe housing from mid-October through mid-May. Guests will be admitted through local welfare department referrals. Educational assistance and skills training that will be offered to guests include money management and how to be a good renter as well as other pertinent and valuable life skills. The shelter will also serve as a hostel for visitors of the Lakes Region from June through September.
