Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB) is asking Portsmouth locals to vote for the nonprofit that enriches the city the most. Votes are being collected at the bank’s Portsmouth office on 2839 Lafayette Road on Route 1, across from the Beach Plum restaurant. MVSB will present $1000 to the nonprofit that receives the most votes, and will award $100 cash prizes to five randomly selected ballot entrants. Latest Email Phishing Scam Targets Office 365 Users
A recent phishing scam is targeting businesses and consumers who use Office 365 email services. Fraudsters are gaining access to Office 365 accounts by stealing login credentials obtained using convincing fake login screens. Fraudster email attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated – often appearing to be sent from a business, organization, or individual the victim normally emails or does business with. The fictitious emails contain malicious links or attachments that redirect the victim to a fake login page asking for their email username and password. New Beneficial Owner Requirements for Some Businesses – Beginning May 11
Beginning May 11, 2018, new federal regulation under the Bank Secrecy Act will require all financial institutions to identify and verify the identity of the Beneficial Owners of certain business customers, subject to exclusions, each time a new account is opened. In order to comply, MVSB will collect this information from covered legal entities on a Beneficial Ownership Certification Form before an account is opened. WinnAero Receives $3,000 Grant from MVSB Fund
The Meredith Village Savings Bank Fund at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation granted $3,000 to the Aviation and Aerospace Educational Center at Winnipesaukee (WinnAero) of Gilford, NH, for its 2018 Aerospace Career Education (ACE) Academies. The contribution will support a scholarship for field trips and aerospace education for local-area students in high school, middle school and elementary school from Belmont, Franklin, Gilford, Laconia, Meredith and Tilton.
