We have received notification from local businesses about instances of fraud in the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) and Advance Grant Program. EIDL was established as the first federal small-business assistance program activated to combat the economic crisis caused by COVID-19. Scammers Claiming to be from the Department of Justice, Preying on Seniors
The U.S. Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) has received multiple reports of individuals claiming to represent the Department of Justice, calling members of the public as part of an imposter scam. The department strongly encourages consumers to remain vigilant and to not provide personal information during these calls, which appear to target seniors. Reports to the National Elder Fraud Hotline indicate that these scammers falsely represent themselves as Department of Justice investigators or employees. MVSB was ranked first in mortgage lending for Belknap County in May 2020, according to the NH Registry Review. In addition, Eric Petell, who joined the MVSB mortgage lending team in November of 2019, was recognized as number one in the individual category.
