We are pleased to support Assistance Canine Training Services (ACTS) with a $1,000 donation in honor of Giving Tuesday. The organization was selected from nonprofit organizations recommended by the community for a special Giving Tuesday promotion on the Bank’s Facebook page.
ACTS, headquartered in North Conway, mobilizes skilled volunteers to raise and train service dogs for individuals who are confined to a wheelchair, as well as facility dogs for animal-assisted therapy. They have provided service dog assistance to disabled individuals throughout New England and their facility dogs provide support in schools, counseling centers, day cares, group homes and hospitals – touching the lives of many every day.
“We are thrilled to be the recipient of this Giving Tuesday donation from MVSB,” said Kathleen Metz, ACTS Executive Director. “Our dogs go through a two-year training period, and donations like this help offset the cost of training so that they can be placed with clients who need their support. Our incredible volunteers and supporters are truly helping us change lives for the better.”
“We are excited to support ACTS and the great work they do to bring added independence and healing to all those that need them most,” said Rick Wyman, MVSB President.
Each year, Giving Tuesday take place on the Tuesday after the Thanksgiving holiday. The day encourages people to support the local nonprofits in their community and offers the chance for nonprofits to highlight their mission and gain new supporters. MVSB is proud to support nonprofits in our communities on Giving Tuesday and all year long.
