We are proud to support the Homeless Center for Strafford County with a $5,000 event sponsorship for their upcoming celebration of the brand new “Home for Now” from 5-7 pm on Thursday, June 2 in Rochester. The event will recognize the organization’s success of their new building and their work to place families in need.
“We are excited for the upcoming event,” said Tracy Hardekopf, Executive Director at the Homeless Center for Strafford County. “The support we have received from MVSB and the local community has been greatly appreciated. The last few years have been challenging for many in our area and these donations help open the doors for a lot of people in need.”
“Investing in the community is at the heart of our mission at MVSB and, as we prepare to open our new branch, we have been asking community members where resources are needed,” said Jolene Whitehead, Rochester Branch and Business Development Manager. “With limited affordable housing options available, the basic need of shelter is something we’ve heard over and over again and we’re incredibly proud to invest in an organization that not only aims to provide that, but also supports local individuals and families as they strive for a permanent home they can afford.”
This contribution is in addition to a $15,000 grant donation to the center in January through the MVSB Fund at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. The fund awarded $121,000 in grant funding to 30 local nonprofits organizations this year. MVSB also purchased $10,000 in tax credits through the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) in 2021 to support the construction of the shelter.
The Homeless Center for Strafford County provides community members and families with shelter, case management, and educational programs that lead to self-sufficiency and permanent housing. Go to homelesscenterforstraffco.org or find the center on Facebook to learn more or to donate.
