We recently purchased $17,500 in tax credits through the Community Development Authority (CDFA) to support the Warner House Association’s Carriage House Project. The project is aimed to construct a replica of the 18th Century Carriage House in downtown Portsmouth, which was demolished in the 1960s. The Carriage House will feature a meeting room, rotating exhibits, staging area for outdoor events and an archaeology collection. Construction broke ground in November and the project is expected to be completed this spring. “Our museum association is grateful for the support MSVB has provided to help us realize our decades-long dream of reconstructing the […]

Meet “Meri” the Moose!
Thank you for your excitement and involvement in our “Name the MVSB Moose” contest! We received so many submissions that choosing a name wasn’t easy, but with input from our employees, we’re proud to introduce “Meri the Moose”! The name Meri honors the history of MVSB, with our first branch opening in Meredith over 150 years ago. It honors our present with the meaning “sea” as we’ve grown to serve communities from the greater lakes region to the seacoast. And perhaps most importantly, it honors who we are – meaning “joyous,” Meri will share our commitment to caring for and […]
Jim Carrigan Promoted to Regional Vice President at MVSB
We are proud to announce the promotion of James “Jim” Carrigan to Regional Vice President. In this role, Jim will oversee the Bank’s Portsmouth, Rochester, Alton, Gilford and Laconia branch offices and will work closely with the branch teams to build on existing relationships and develop new opportunities. “Jim truly exemplifies the community and customer focus that MVSB prioritizes in its mission. As the Bank has expanded in the Seacoast, he has built and grown exceptional teams to maintain the highest level of service for customers, while staying keenly in tune to the most pressing needs in the community,” said […]
Fraudsters Posing as Your Local Bank
Local residents are receiving calls, emails and text from fraudsters posing as bank employees asking for online banking, account and debit card information. If you are contacted asking for information about your MVSB accounts, please do not respond and call us directly for assistance. Communications from fraudsters can be convincing and they may even “spoof” the caller ID to appear as though the call is from a local bank number. Be wary of communication you aren’t expecting and remember, we will not ask for sensitive information via phone, email or text unless you have contacted us for support. We will […]

We are proud to support the Meredith Sculpture Walk with a $10,000 donation to celebrate its 10th anniversary. This year’s sculpture walk will feature more than 30 artist creations placed throughout downtown Meredith. The sculptures are available to view all year long and begin on Main Street and continue through the Town Docks, Hesky Park, Scenic Park and Clough Park along Meredith Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee. “What started as two sculptures displayed in the courtyard 10 years ago has blossomed to a nationally recognized display and destination,” said Bev Lapham, Chair of the Meredith Sculpture Walk. “We are grateful to […]

According to the Federal Trade Commission, online romance scams are on the rise with $547 million being lost to scams in 2021 alone. If you are using online dating apps, websites or social media sites, it’s important to know how romance scams work so you can avoid being catfished and/or scammed. Millions of people across the country use online dating tools each year – and many of the profiles that appear are criminals using fake online identities.
