Lori Borrin has been an advocate for homeownership in Lakes Region communities for nearly 20 years. As Vice President and Mortgage Loan Officer NMLS# 165814 at MVSB, she supports local individuals and families every day – helping them navigate the process of buying, building, renovating or refinancing their home. And Lori also lends her experience and expertise in her involvement with local nonprofits that support affordable housing initiatives and the homebuilding industry.
Lori volunteers her time as a member of the Board of Directors for Lakes Region Community Developers, where she currently serves as Treasurer. This nonprofit organization serves throughout the Greater Lakes Region and works to develop high-quality, affordable rental housing opportunities and community resources.
“The Lakes Region is a beautiful place to live, but we are certainly not immune to the increasing challenges that residents face with renting or buying, which includes availability, cost and quality,” said Lori. “It has been rewarding being involved with Lakes Region Community Developers and assisting community members in finding a place to call home.”
Lakes Region Community Developers owns and operates 365 affordable apartments in Ashland, Gilford, Laconia, Meredith, Tilton and Wolfeboro. In addition, the organization manages a transitional housing program and also is a part of HOMEteam, which provides first-time home-buyer education and financial counseling.
Lori also serves on the Committee for Lakes Region Parade of Homes, which is an initiative of the Lakes Region Builders & Remodelers Association, a master association dedicated to promoting, protecting and preserving the home building industry as a viable economic force in the Lakes Region. As advocates of the industry, they advance professionalism, promote community involvement and provide quality housing opportunities through education, vision and advocacy for the betterment of the communities they serve.
The organization’s annual Lakes Region Parade of Homes self-guided tour will take place Columbus Day Weekend from Oct. 12-13.
“The Parade of Homes is an event that showcases lakes region living and all it has to offer amidst a backdrop of peak foliage,” said Lori. “We’re very proud to support this opportunity to celebrate the talent and creativity of our local builders and craftspeople. Additionally, money raised from ticket sales helps support the initiatives of the Lakes Region Builders & Remodelers Association.”
The Lakes Region Builders & Remodelers Association sponsors numerous opportunities in the community, which includes mentoring students at the Huot Technical Center for their yearly build project, offering educational scholarships, supporting the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction and more.
In addition to these formal roles, you’re likely to find Lori attending and volunteering for local fundraisers to support local community nonprofits. Her past community involvement includes, mentoring with the Circle Program, Meredith Area Chamber of Commerce and Meals-On-Wheels.
