Local Nonprofits Collaborate to Serve More Than 1,000 Strafford County Families for Thanksgiving
More than 1,000 families were welcomed by a nearly 70 volunteers ready to distribute holiday meal essentials the Saturday before Thanksgiving at the SHARE Fund location in Rochester. From 9 am to noon, community members made their way through a line to pick up everything from canned corn and stuffing to frozen turkeys to prepare a home-cooked meal. MVSB Collects 1,860 Cold-Weather Items, Donates $3,270 to Local Nonprofits
We proudly collected and donated 1,860 mittens, hats, gloves and scarves during the 2023 MVSB annual Mitten Tree Drive. In addition, we presented a $2 donation match for each item collected for a total of $3,270 split between 10 local nonprofits addressing food insufficiency issues for local children. MVSB has held its annual Mitten Tree Drive each winter since 1979. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Bank collects cold-weather item donations at every MVSB branch location. MVSB Fund Awards Grants to 40 Local Nonprofit Organizations
The MVSB Fund at New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has awarded $75,000 to 40 local nonprofit organizations. This includes $58,000 donated to 23 local agencies and $17,000 to 17 local food pantries to help address food insufficiency in the Bank’s communities. The grants are in addition to MVSB’s contributions throughout the year in the form of donations, sponsorships, scholarships and volunteer efforts by employees. Since 1997, the MVSB Fund has awarded annual grant-based contributions to nonprofit organizations that enrich and improve the quality of lives of residents in the Bank’s service areas.
