The MVSB Fund at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has awarded $113,400 to area nonprofits. The Charitable Fund contributions include 25 grants, totaling $99,400, to assist agencies with their individual needs. Laverack has assumed the position of sole President and CEO of New Hampshire Mutual Bancorp (NHMB), the holding company for MVSB, Merrimack County Savings Bank (the Merrimack) and MillRiver Wealth Management (MillRiver), effective January 1, 2016.  He previously has shared the role with Paul C. Rizzi, Jr. since 2013. The Barley House, a popular restaurant frequented by locals and tourists alike in downtown Concord, opened its second location on 43 Lafayette Road at the Lafayette Crossing Plaza in North Hampton, NH. With financing help provided by MVSB, Brian Shea, The Barley House owner, is confident the North Hampton site will be able to capitalize on the 15 years of success currently enjoyed by its flagship location. We received reports of active card skimming at convenience store ATMs across the country, including several locations in Massachusetts. Skimming is the use of a device to illegally collect magnetic stripe information from credit, debit and ATM cards. The information collected is used by identity thieves to create counterfeit cards, which can be used to make fraudulent purchases or withdrawals. Most skimming incidents occur when a fraudster places a malicious card reading device over or near the actual card reader on a payment terminal such as an ATM, gas pump or vending machine. MVSB has provided critical support to the Laconia Area Community Land Trust’s (LACLT) tax credit campaign to upgrade its properties by purchasing $50,000 in tax credits from the nonprofit. New Hampshire’s Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) awarded LACLT $500,000 in tax credits to sell to businesses. The Four Paws Inn provides cage-free doggie daycare and boarding services in Meredith.  They recently expanded their facility with financing provided by Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB). With colder weather moving in and the holidays fast approaching, MVSB is continuing a tradition since 1979 of collecting donations from the community of mittens, hats and scarves to distribute to local residents through its annual Mitten Tree program. Beginning the day after Thanksgiving and continuing through December 19th, donations of handmade or purchased mittens, gloves, hats and scarves by area residents and customers can be dropped off at the nearest MVSB office. The donated gifts will be used to decorate the holiday tree in the lobby of each branch before being distributed to members of the community who need them. […]
