We are thrilled to announce the winners of our annual photo contest!  Selected photos will be included in the 2014 MVSB Community Calendar or on our website. We are excited to launch a two-month education-themed Facebook contest, during which community members will have the opportunity to vote for a local school district to win a $3000 grant. Over the summer, we reached out local school administrators and asked how they could benefit from an additional $3000 in technology resources; their responses have been posted to our Facebook page. Communities for Alcohol-and-Drug-free Youth (CADY) was selected as one of nineteen local non-profit agencies to receive a grant from the MVSB charitable fund in 2013. CADY will use this $5000 grant to support the LAUNCH Youth Entrepreneurship Program, an employment program serving the youth of the Newfound and Pemi-Baker Regions. CADY, Inc.’s LAUNCH Program is an innovative youth development program that combines workforce development training and substance abuse prevention strategies. We are pleased to announce the August selections for the MVSB Book of the Month Program at seven local libraries. The MVSB Book of the Month program seeks to foster the joy of reading and lifelong learning for people of all ages. MVSB donates funds to allow local libraries to purchase and promote books for adults and children. Participating libraries each receive an annual $500 donation to purchase two or more books each month to be displayed on their shelves as the MVSB Books of the Month. Pemi Youth Center in Plymouth, NH was chosen as one of nineteen non-profit agencies across the greater Lakes Region to receive a grant from the Meredith Village Savings Bank Charitable Fund. The MVSB Fund has awarded a $1,000 grant to Tamworth Caregivers of Tamworth, NH. These funds will be used to supplement the organization’s volunteer mileage reimbursement program. Tamworth Caregivers provides neighborly services to Tamworth residents that require assistance to meet their daily obligations or to enhance their quality of life. 98% of the requests received by the organization are for volunteer transportation services for important personal errands, such as medical appointments.
